The Christmas Wars
Here’s a news story from Mother Jones on the “Christmas Wars”. According to the article, The Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy are not going to use the word “Christmas” in any of their advertising or promotional material. I must say I think that’s ridiculous! Mother Jones doesn’t seem to care about this, but I do. I mean, come on, it’s Christmas!!!
Christmas News
So here’s my first post on Christmas in the news! It’s only the end of September, but as you can see by the stories below, Christmas is already in the news!
Christmas decorations are beginning to show up in stores around the country. It seems that most customers think this is a sign of desperation in the bad economy, and retailers aren’t doing much to dispel those thoughts. Even though I’m starting a Christmas blog in September myself, I must agree that this is a bit early for Christmas decorations to begin appearing in stores! What about Halloween and Thanksgiving!
There’s a new movie trailer out for Disney’s new movie, A Christmas Carol.
Yahoo News is announcing that Lil Wayne’s new rock album will be coming out in time for Christmas, while Google News is announcing that Bob Dylan will be releasing a Christmas album for charity!
I’ll try to keep you all posted with the latest news as we get closer and closer to Christmas, so check back often!
