Another Site on Christmas Songs

Well, I was trying to go to the Christmas songs site I mentioned in the post below, but I typed the site in wrong and ended up at another site called Christmas Songs. This time it’s www.christmassongs.org instead of the .net. I’ve never seen this site before, but it’s really great. It does have lyrics like most other Christmas music sites, but even better, they have “playlists”. You can look at traditional, modern, popular, romantic, and funny playlists, which are AWESOME for use with an iPod. I’ve made a custom playlist in iTunes using their traditional Christmas song playlist, and it’s perfect.

Man, I really need to start posting more on this blog!

New Christmas Site

New Christmas Site

New Christmas Site

I know I’ve been totally neglecting my blog.  :(   Sorry about that!  I’m going to try to make an attempt to post more often!  So a good friend of mine who likes Christmas even more than I do (if that’s possible), emailed to tell me about a site he made on Christmas music.  It’s called Christmas songs, and is totally awesome if you like Christmas music!  That’s got to be inspiration for me to post on my blog more.

There’s a lot of really interesting information about the history of Christmas songs, lots of song lyrics and such too.  But I think my favorite part is the section with Christmas music trivia.  I told John he’s got to make more of those quizzes…and he said he would.  So check out his site when you’ve got a moment, and bookmark it to visit again around Christmas!

Stay tuned for more posts soon.  I promise!

It’s time to get out your Christmas decorations and start planning!  Thanksgiving is in two days, and then it’s time to put up your tree, decorate your home, and turn on the Christmas CD’s!  This post has lots of great pictures of decorations including the one above.  On the Care to Eat blog you’ll find some other really nice decorations that may give you ideas for your own home.  And the Inspired Room has 3 Unique Christmas Decorating Ideas you might find useful.

Still trying to decide on which Christmas gifts to give?  Check out this post on the best Christmas gifts for 2009.  I recently got the new iPod Nano for my husband and he loves it!

Christmas Stories

Here’s a great article in the Courier News, It’s already beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  Although cities have very tight budgets this year, regular people are doing what they can to keep Christmas alive and well!  And for another interesting article, check out this one on old fashioned Christmas decorations.

Christmas Gift Ideas

Well, it’s not even Halloween yet, but it is about time to start looking for Christmas gifts.  Getting your shopping out of the way early is a great way to keep your stress levels down closer to the holidays.  I came across this great post on Christmas gift ideas for the emotionally distant father, which is both funny and useful.  Here’s a good post on Christmas gifts for men.  And here’s another post on Christmas gifts from Cut the Crazy.  So get out early and get your shopping done!

The Christmas Wars

Here’s a news story from Mother Jones on the “Christmas Wars”.  According to the article, The Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy are not going to use the word “Christmas” in any of their advertising or promotional material.  I must say I think that’s ridiculous!  Mother Jones doesn’t seem to care about this, but I do.  I mean, come on, it’s Christmas!!!

Interesting Christmas Posts

Neiman Marcus has just released their Christmas Book, detailing gifts up to $250,000!  That’s a bit crazy in the current economic environment.  One of the less expensive gifts is a $7,500 whiskey making “experience”.  It must be nice!  While some people are spending $2,500 on making whiskey for a day, others say all they want for Christmas is gay marriage.  I generally don’t associate Christmas with gay marriage…

For something really nice, here’s a Christmas card giveaway!

More on Christmas Decorating!

Flocked Christmas Tree

After my recent post on Christmas decorating, I thought I’d share my favorite place to shop for such things: Santa’s Quarters.  Two years ago I bought a 9′ flocked artificial Christmas tree from them along with different colored Christmas ball ornaments.  I had always had a real tree and initially wasn’t crazy about the idea of an artificial one, but my husband talked me into it.  After we got the tree and set it up I loved it!  So much so that I didn’t want to take it down.  :(   Now I can’t wait to put it up again this year!

They’ve got every kind of Christmas decoration you can imagine…wreaths, garlands, lights…picks and sprays you can use to decorate your tree, etc, and with way more variety than you’ll find in crafts stores or places like Home Depot or Lowes.  So if you’re in need of some new decorations be sure to check them out.

Christmas News

So here’s my first post on Christmas in the news!  It’s only the end of September, but as you can see by the stories below, Christmas is already in the news!

Christmas decorations are beginning to show up in stores around the country.  It seems that most customers think this is a sign of desperation in the bad economy, and retailers aren’t doing much to dispel those thoughts.  Even though I’m starting a Christmas blog in September myself, I must agree that this is a bit early for Christmas decorations to begin appearing in stores!  What about Halloween and Thanksgiving!

There’s a new movie trailer out for Disney’s new movie, A Christmas Carol.

Yahoo News is announcing that Lil Wayne’s new rock album will be coming out in time for Christmas, while Google News is announcing that Bob Dylan will be releasing a Christmas album for charity!

I’ll try to keep you all posted with the latest news as we get closer and closer to Christmas, so check back often!

Beautiful Christmas Tree

Beautiful Christmas Tree

I just came across a great blog offering a custom Christmas tree decorating class.  This woman does a beautiful job as you can see in the picture above.  If you can’t make it to the tree decorating class you might find this article helpful on decorating your home…which actually covers a lot more than Christmas trees, but in less depth than the above site.
